I would love to turn you on to Point Reyes! These photographs show amazing places, and carefully chosen moments of time. After 40 years in the darkroom, I mostly print digitally with an archival Canon printer, using the highest quality papers and inks. My prints are more expressive now. I can do more with contrast and texture, while reducing imperfections. The illusion that photographs are a window depends on clarity It takes a lot of field work to get the right image, and much follow-through to get great prints, but I still love it. - Richard Blair

Bolinas Fishing Boats and Kent Island, Outgoing Tide

This was photographed from the fishing dock on Wharf Road in Bolinas. These are bots that brake the tides and waves to fish in the Pacific Ocean beyond. The photograph was exposed on 4x5” film with a wide engle lens and a tripod, so I could capture the movement of the water with a time exposure.
